Rebecca Rule is the sheriff of Refuge, New Hampshire. Her biggest concern is the rowdy summertime revelers making their way up from Massachusetts and New York. With most of the town’s residents in neighboring Ashland, for the 4th of July fireworks show, Refuge is quiet. That is, until the Baptist Church’s bell starts ringing—on its own.

The bell chimes faster and faster, reaching a frenetic pace, as though rung by the Devil himself. But the bell is just the beginning. The air shimmers. The night-time sky fills with a burning red aurora. The moon, previously a crescent, is now full. And just hours after dusk, the sun returns to the sky, revealing an endless desert where there was once a mountainous pine forest.

Rule must guide the confused and frightened residents of Refuge through the first terrifying hours of acclimating to this horrifying new environment, while protecting them from inhuman dangers both inside and outside of the town’s newly clean-cut borders.

In a world gone haywire, only one thing is certain, no one in Refuge will ever forget the night of the blood sky.

REFUGE is a serialized novel, co-authored by #1 bestselling horror author, Jeremy Bishop (aka international bestselling thriller author Jeremy Robinson), and five other authors, including international bestsellers Kane Gilmour and David McAfee, USA Today bestseller Robert Swartwood, and newcomer Daniel Boucher. The story was released in five parts, but it is now available as one complete novel. So read the individual parts or grab the completed novel. Either way, you’re in for a creepy ride.

Refuge Night of the Blood Sky eBook Jeremy Bishop Jeremy Robinson

Mr. Robinson has created, with the help of his alter-ego and equally talented author friends, a well developed story line on par with the great tomes of King. He quickly has the reader invested in the characters of a quintessental small New England town, which gives the story a King like feel. Robinson dives into the supernatural with a Sci-fi twist and enough mystery to hook the reader into the serialized story line. Robinson is a prolific writer who has built stories in the past that have lead this reader into thoughts of serialzed adventures for his many different characters. It was a pleasant surprise to see him actually take off down that road, albeit with a brand new set of characters. The concept of serialized stories is a lost art and I take great pleasure in seeing Mr. Robinson resurrect a writing style that made the likes of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle and Edgar Rice Burroughs famous. "Refuge" combines strong character development with human interest, supernatural suspense, a tinge of horror, Sci-Fi and bizzare creature development into a noir cliffhanger serial that does not disappoint. Considering, by nature, a serial is made up of short works it almost feels disappointing that the installment comes to end so soon. I kept hoping a church bell would start ringing and more pages would somehow magically appear at the end.

Refuge Night of the Blood Sky eBook Jeremy Bishop Jeremy Robinson Reviews

A Quaint town by the name of Refuge, nestled amongst a forest in stunningly beautiful Vermont, and it's residents are in for the shock of their lives when the only church in town begins tolling it's bells by its own accord.

Vividly painted characters must put their differences aside and work together to cope and try to make sense of the craziness that is affecting their town and it's residents.

I am thrilled with the concept behind Refuge, the wicked and formidable creatures, frightening action, humorous residents and fast paced reading in the first of a five book series. Looking so very forward to beginning the next book in line and reading what Jeremy Bishop/Robinson and co-authors have produced with their creative and unique visions.

I recommend Refuge for those that are familiar with Mr. Robinson's exciting work, as well as newcomers seeking a unique and memorable book !

Five stars for Refuge due to it's unique story-line, well developed and mostly like able characters (which I am thrilled to learn more about as this series continues), creativeness and strongly formed action scenes. Let's see where Refuge is headed and why !
I have to admit that I started this one with some mixed feelings. I''m a great fan of Jeremy Robinson's books, but the ones he wrote under the Bishop name didn't really work for me. So what about the first installment of a novel that we wrote under both names???
When I started reading Refuge my first thought was "This sounds rather familiar..." A small town that's suddenly cut off from the rest of the world... another Under the Dome?
But then things started happening.... and happening fast! Before you get settled in the novel it runs totally out of control. I don't want to give any spoilers here, but let's just say that Refuge is one hell of a ride and I'm really looking forward to see where the story will go next.
If you like action-filled stories with a tad of weird, you can't do better than this. Refuge is the start of what promises to be an awful series!!

My only complaint here is to 's pricing of ebooks for overseas customers at first Refuge was priced at almost $7, which is ridiculous for a 100-page first part of a novel. Then the price went down to $4.83, which was still ridiculous. Only when the second installment of the series came out (at $4.83) the price of the first one dropped to the normal $1.99. While I love , I can't help but feel that overseas customers are being ripped off here.
The opening book of this series is a captivating read, with both authors (wink) contributing distinctly to the writing. The deep characterization and witty dialogue typical of Jeremy Robinson's work is on full display in this first installment of the Refuge novellas. Meanwhile, the twisted, graphic descriptiveness of Bishop comes to the fore when the scenes of violence and death occur (aw c'mon, it's not like this is a spoiler alert with these two writers!).

The Jeremys establish the backdrop for Refuge and its population, and do their typically excellent job of creating a connection between the characters and reader. Almost immediately you begin to feel for teens Josh (aka Radar) and Lisa, as they engage in typical adolescent behavior most readers will find nostalgic. The book's protagonist, Sherriff Rebecca Rule, is portrayed as a loving yet strict character, whose approach to the crisis the town finds itself in is reminiscent of other Robinson protagonists, a competent leader who handles situations with compassion and decisiveness. She also exhibits an ability to evaluate and compartmentalize information, something which is critical during the initial phases of the series' plot.

As a fan of almost everything Robinson and Bishop have produced, "Night of the Blood Sky" made a positive impression on me. I found myself "Jonesin'" for the second book to be released. The opening book of the Refuge series has established a benchmark to which the others will be compared, and that if reached will make for one Hell of a read.
Good, if brief, 109-page introduction to this book, which is marketed cut-up into 5 parts - the next four at $2.99 each for 124, 112, 99 and 114 pages (It is also available to buy as a complete book of 422 pages for $4.99) Despite my dislike of these marketing methods, I liked the book.

Interesting characters, good action and the pace picks up as the intro gets into gear. The plot is similar 1631/Ring of Fire - a small town gets dropped into places - but as the place are not historical, so there is more buckling of swash against monsters than intellectual what-ifs. Sad to lose a good key character in the intro, but it still avery entertaining read.
