I am a nurse working in the prison system and a homeless shelter where so many patients have been through the system. I will share this information with patients who are at risk of going back to prison. It will be a great tool to use the system to their advantage, and not become institutionalized. This book is a must read, it gives incredible insight to the inner workings of the Federal Prison system and how to survive. This book is a also a excellent guide on how to use your time to better yourself through the programs offered in the Federal Prison system. Any Law enforcement officer Attorney or anyone facing the probable prospect of going to Federal prison this book is a must read.
This book was recommended to me as my spouse is going through a case with the federal government. As Upsetting as this is I feel relieved to know what is going to happen and that he will be able to survive this. I feel like we are prepared and that is the most important thing.

What a great book, written in simple language, to understand the ins and outs of the prison system. Anyone who is headed to prison, or has a family member in prison needs to read this book. It clearly explains in much detail all the codes and unknown information one needs to know before heading there. Luckily for James, he "worked" the system the way it should be done and improved his life during his sentence. Hopefully, this will be an inspiration for many as the author titled the book- A Light At the End of the Tunnel. There is always hope, but knowledge goes a long way and this book gives you both..
This book is a must read for anyone entering the US Federal Prison System. This book is nothing short of a "How to" manual to for those who have been convicted by the Federal government. James goes into great detail on how to make the system work for the inmate outlining step-by-step how to reduce time served, serve easier time at more optimal institution, maximize communication with loved ones, take advantage of educational opportunities and most importantly how to stay on the good side of both prison staff and other inmates!
Entering the Federal Prison system is obviously a life changing event but this book will not only take the blindfold off for those entering the system it provides a road map which will help guide the inmate through this traumatic experience as well as provide loved ones with anadditional level of comfort.
My son is in the system now, I can't tell u how many unanswered questions I had before my friend recommended this book to
me, I can't thank the author and other inmates that helped write this book....I wish this book was available years ago, I can't tell
u how many sleepless nights I had worrying about my son,,,I now understand exactly what my son had to go through, and now I hope and pray
